A month-to-month lease termination letter allows a landlord or tenant to give notice to terminate a tenancy-at-will. Find the required notice period in the State where the property is located. It is most commonly thirty (30) days.
Write the termination letter and decide the notice start date and when the tenant will vacate the property. This letter can be written by either the landlord or the tenant.
Send the notice to the other party. It is recommended to send by certified letter with a return receipt to prove notice is received.
The tenant will be required to vacate the premises and remove their possessions by the end of the notice period.
